About Us

EMROIDERY & SCREEN PRINTING NETWORK is located in Vestal, NY approximately 1.5 miles west of Binghamton University, 1 block off of the Vestal Parkway. Formerly known as Screen Printing USA (2002) the company moved to its current location in January of 2004 after 11 years on Main St. in Johnson City. Jim Porter, president of EMBROIDERY & SCREEN PRINTING NETWORK, has owned and operated the company since its inception in 1991.

WHY TO CHOOSE EMBROIDERY & SCREEN PRINTING NETWORK

Other than the thousands of promotional items such as pens, glassware, plastic items that we sell (which are produced by the many ASI suppliers that we have affiliations with), all screen printing and embroidery is done in house by our experienced and talented staff.

Whether for screen printing or embroidery, artwork is created and/or formatted for use in either operation by our highly trained and capable artwork staff. You may contact us via phone, fax, email or visit our showroom. In all cases, our staff will make sure that you receive only the best of service.

While having an experienced and helpful staff in all areas of our business is a key to our success, we also have a proven system that ensures that orders are processed such that our customers get what they want, when they want it. This is further explained on our "Receiving a Quote/Placing an Order" page.

The products we supply are either printed or embroidered. The following is a brief description of each of these processes. Since we also provide promotional products/advertising specialties the specifics related to this type of order is also discussed.

SCREEN PRINTING:

Screen printing is the printing of designs on textiles such as t-shirts, sweats, jackets, athletic uniforms, shorts, all types of bags, as well as an assortment of other products. The colors in a design are inks that are applied to the item by "pushing" the inks through a screen and onto the item. Each color of the design that is printed on an item is done so with a separate screen. For example, if a t-shirt has a 4 color design printed on the front, 4 screens will be needed - one for each color in the design. Once the complete design is printed on the item it is placed on a conveyor where it is sent through a dryer for the inks to be cured.

Designs have varying levels of complexity. It is therefore critical to have expertise in the ability to take artwork that is supplied, no matter how complex, and be able to convert it such that the design can be screen printed on an item. EMBROIDERY & SCREEN PRINTING NETWORK has this level of expertise. Besides having a talented art department, it is critical that our staff be knowledgeable in the many techniques that enable designs to be printed on the items. Our art department and production staff work closely together to ensure that the quality of the screen printed design is maximized. Since there are always enhancements in technology, we are constantly researching new inks, developing new processes and investigating new stencil technologies.

Because of the nature of screen printing, there are a number of factors that effect the price of imprinted items. These factors include the number of colors in the design, the locations to be printed (i.e. full front/left chest/back/sleeve/etc.), whether just one location or multiple locations are to be printed, the color of the item, the quantity of items and in certain cases the material of the item. Due to characteristics of the screen printing process, there are minimum order quantities. Contact us to discuss your order as there are a number of factors that will determine how small an order we will screen print.

When tasks such as personalization and numbering are required, we utilize a heatpress operation that again is done in-house.

EMBROIDERY:

Embroidery is the stitching of a design, logo or personalization on most any kind of fabric that can be placed in a sewing hoop. Items that can be embroidered include but are not limited to all kinds of apparel, hats, all types of bags, towels etc. . The colors in the design are thread and our embroidery equipment has the capability of doing a nine color design. Although it does have an effect on the price of an embroidered item, unlike screen printing the number of colors in the design is not as critical a factor. While we have done 9 color designs, the majority of designs use less than 9 thread colors. Embroidery machines come with different number of heads which allow multiple items with the same design to be embroidered at the same time. With the capability of embroidering up to 12 items at a time EMBROIDERY & SCREEN PRINTING NETWORK takes pride in delivering quality items whether it is on only 1 item or hundreds of items.

The cost of embroidery is based on the size of the design and the amount of stitches used in the design. It is through a process called digitizing that the final design and the stitch count are reached. Through the expertise of our graphic artist and embroiderer, EMBROIDERY & SCREEN PRINTING NETWORK can take almost any image and turn it into a high quality embroidered design. For all but very complicated designs, digitizing is done on premises by our very capable staff. Our digitizing rates are very affordable, especially compared to others. Embroidery and Screen Printing Network's personnel are very experienced and knowledgeable in both digitizing the design and embroidering the design on the item. This reaps huge benefits in terms of the quality of the embroidered design. Besides having the ability to create custom logos with art supplied by customers, we also have access to over thousands of designs (through Dakota Collectibles and Great Notions) that can be used by themselves or combined with custom lettering. This is important because it gives customers access to many different designs for many different applications without the cost of custom digitizing. Whether it is design that is needed for a sport, mascot, occupation, vehicle or for that matter just about any design, we can typically find options that are readily available. Below are links to search each site for your keyword. If you find a design you like and think will make a nice logo for you just make note of the design number, and either call us or email us that information.

As mentioned in the Screen printing section above, one method of personalizing is through the use of heat pressing. Another option is with embroidery. Whether it is for a name on an employees staff shirt which has the company logo embroidered on the opposite chest, or a players name/# on a hooded sweatshirt or jacket that has his/her school sport design printed on the back, embroidery is a great solution. Because we do both screen printing and embroidery in house, orders that have a screen printed design and are personalized with embroidery can be completed quicker.

PROMOTIONAL PRODUCTS/ADVERTISING SPECIALTIES: EMBROIDERY & SCREEN PRINTING NETWORK also offers an incredible array of custom logo promotional products covering the business, travel, gift and personal accessories categories!

While the majority of items are screen printed or embroidered on our premises, non-textile and/or irregularly shaped items are printed by one of the many companies that we are affiliated with by being a distributor with ASI (Advertising Specialty Institute). These items we call "Advertising Specialties". There are literally thousands of products that fall into this category. All types of glassware (mugs, ceramic coffee mugs, shot glasses, etc.), plastic products (Frisbees, mugs, license plate holders, key chains, golf markers, sport bottles etc.), pens, lanyards, magnets, sport balls, golf balls, buttons and portfolios are just a short list of advertising specialties.

There are hundreds of suppliers who provide custom imprinting on thousands of different products. While many companies may offer the similar products, there are a few things to consider when deciding on which one is the best choice. Here are a few items that play a role in selecting a supplier: 1). Suppliers have a minimum order quantity. This varies from supplier to supplier. Some companies will do a lesser amount by paying a less than minimum charge. 2). Suppliers have a standard turnaround time. Again, this varies from supplier to supplier. Some companies will supply items quicker with a "rush charge". In addition to production time, shipping time must be considered. 3) Some suppliers are better than others in terms of the quality of their finished product, how well they meet their delivery requirements or the price of the product they sell. In addition, not all suppliers will sell products in every color.

The majority of advertising specialty companies do not sell directly to the consumer. They rely on a network of distributors like Embroidery & Screen Printing Network to sell their products. Not all distributors are alike!!! We pride ourselves as being an excellent ASI distributor for a number of reasons. 1). We have an excellent computer program that enables us to search and locate every supplier that sells every product in the ASI network. You tell us what you are interested in and we'll find every supplier that produces that product in the color you want and at the best possible price. If time is of the essence, we have the ability to locate the suppliers who can meet your delivery requirement. 2). In addition to this computer program, we have an excellent filing system that allows us to access catalogs for most ASI suppliers 3). Having been an ASI distributor for more than 10 years, we have established affiliations with many, many suppliers. We know the quality of their product offerings and how good each company's service is. We also know for each supplier what needs to be done when in order to ensure that each order is delivered on time. 4). Like we do with orders that are done in house, we have a well established process for managing orders to make sure that each order is delivered on time and is what the customer expects. 5). Finally, because we have a talented, experienced in house art staff we know how to format the artwork so that it can be imprinted on the promotional product, whatever it might be.
